Our vision is God’s dream in us for a broken world. As women of faith we believe that God is calling us to reach out with the compassion of Christ to all, especially the most vulnerable and those in need. We believe that God is calling us to respect and reverence the whole of creation, the cultures and traditions of every race and nation, moving us beyond our fears and prejudices as we try to respond to the needs of our times. (General Chapter 2001).
“From the time of Mary Aikenhead, we as a Congregation have been involved proactively in the ‘Service of the Poor’ in a variety of ways in response to the needs of any given time.
In our world today there are many who are excluded and exploited by our increasingly globalized society: people who are displaced, people who are deprived, people who are oppressed and people who are marginalized” (General Chapter 2007)
Our mission is corporate and is to follow the poor Christ who knew pain and rejection. Christ whose loving surrender redeemed our broken world. In a spirit of creative fidelity to the love Mary Aikenhead had for Christ and for the poor our mission is to speak out boldly against all forms of injustice wherever we are and in whatever we do. Our mission is to be women of prayer fired with a passion to free others to know that they are greatly loved.

Relying on Divine Providence and following the teaching and example of Mary Aikenhead, we are strengthened:
• to enter into the struggle of our times
• to stand in solidarity with people who are disadvantaged
• to be an advocate of all who are poor, to speak for them, to empower them and to be empowered by them
• to live with our own powerlessness
• to accept and even embrace suffering, humiliation and misunderstanding for the sake of Christ and his people
